Olympic Sized Beads

Yesterday while planning on making stock for the upcoming 5th Annual Stourbridge Bead Fair on 25th & 26th and Celebrate Glass on the 27th August I ended up going off in a completely different direction. I have a tiny TV in my studio and like the past few days was hooked on watching the Olympics while busy melting glass. My beads got BIG!!

The first was this one which is made using TAG Fire Lotus, a glass I am becoming increasingly fond of.

I made a few others and then just after Katherine Copeland and Sophie Hosking won gold in the lightweight women's double sculls I found myself making this, my favourite of the batch.

And all from someone who thought the Olympics was going to be boring rather than emotional, exciting and inspiring! To give you an idea of the size of these beads here is a group shot in my hand.

Freshen Up of My Website

After a few long calls to technical support, a few choice words and a lot of puffing and sighing I have finally got my new website up and running.....I hope!

The written content is not all that different but I have updated the images and axed a few of the pages I felt were not necessary.

Oh and I added a few bits and pieces of jewellery that you may not have seen ;)

Home Accessories

I have been taking a bit of time out from making beads.......but don't panic, I'm still melting glass. This time into beautiful home accessories. Light or blind pulls and drawer, door or cupboard knobs!! There are some light pulls available right now in my etsy shop.

As you can see from the photograph above, the hole at the bottom is nice and big to hide the knot or for those of you more creative they would make great focal beads with lots of danglies hanging from them.

The knobs will be available soon but for the moment I am building up a nice stock of them to sell at Exeter Craft Festival which is fast approaching. I will of course have pulls and lots of lovely jewellery and beads available there too.
